Indiana University honored musician, artist, and activist John Mellencamp with a ceremony for the unveiling of a statue on the Bloomington campus, symbolizing his deep connection to southern Indiana. The statue, created by IU alumnus Michael McAuley and funded by donors, now resides in the IU Auditorium North Garden. IU President Pamela Whitten praised Mellencamp’s cultural impact and generosity. A member of the Rock and Roll and Songwriters Halls of Fame, Mellencamp also announced the donation of his archival collection to IU, enriching its resources for research and education.
